Transformational
Ohio Wesleyan’s goal is to provide every student with transformational experiences that will prepare them for the causes, careers, and graduate school opportunities they want to pursue.
We do that through close relationships with faculty-mentors—and through a unique academic program called The OWU Connection.
OWU is one of the most comprehensive liberal arts schools in the country. It is one of only 45 schools featured in Colleges That Change Lives and is ranked in the top 100 national liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. OWU’s breadth of more than 70 majors includes Business, Data Analytics, Fine Arts, Communication, and Education; scientific fields such as Neuroscience and Zoology; and a wide range of pre-professional areas, including Medicine, Law, Public Administration, and Engineering.
The OWU Connection
What makes OWU distinctive is its focus on connection—it’s the foundation of The OWU Connection.
- You will Think Big as you span academic disciplines and work closely with faculty to explore the world’s important challenges.
- You will Go Global. More than 400 students a year have travel-learning experiences.
- You will Get Real as you connect theory to practice with hands-on learning in real-world situations through internships and mentored research.
Employers covet OWU’s well-prepared graduates. In 2021, 97% of reporting graduates were employed and/or in graduate school within six months. OWU’s new Career Connection program connects students with internship opportunities from Silicon Valley to the Mayo Clinic to New York arts world and Wall Street.
OWU students are uber-involved on the beautiful, historic, 200-acre campus in central Ohio, with more than 100 student clubs, organizations, and activities. Bishops compete on 24 varsity sports teams and students contribute more than 40,000 hours a year in volunteer service.
The OWU Connection
On campus, OWU offers over 70 majors, and about a third of students graduate with multiple majors.
Off campus, students travel around the world to study, conduct research, and shake up their view of the world. Whether it's studying abroad, taking a valuable internship, participating in a Travel-Learning Course, or proposing a Theory-to-Practice grant, students bring learning to life.
