Marketing yOWUr Transferable Skills
You've heard the phrase "market your skills--set yourself apart!" but how do you truly set yourself apart in the job/internship market? Simply put: Transferable Skills.
What is a Transferable Skill?
A Transferable Skill is a knowledge base you learn in a situation the can be applied later in alternative situations. These skills are learned through activities like employment, athletics, projects, academia...the list goes on. Examples of transferable skills can be found here.
Why are transferable skills important to employers?
With your Transferable Skills, employers see you as a very valuable source of skilled labor. Once you have acquired a skill, they know you have the capacity to transfer it into their organization and to develop it further (i.e. Skill Progression). In your Resume and at Interview, employers look for concrete evidence that you have the skills they are looking for (i.e. Skill Match)
Transferable skills are what set yOWUr experiences apart from other candidates--take this opportunity to shine, and be The Opposite of Ordinary!
