New for Fall 2022! OWU and Mount Carmel College of Nursing are partnering to offer two different pathways to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. You choose the option that best fits your personal and career goals.

About the Pathways

MCCN
OWU offers two direct pathways to Mount Carmel College of Nursing, one of central Ohio's top nursing programs.

With Ohio Wesleyan's new nursing pathway program, you can earn an OWU Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in almost any field plus a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in as little as 4-5 years total. Or you can earn a nursing degree in 4 years, including 2 years at one of America's top liberal arts universities.

The pathways are an ideal option if you are interested in a nursing career and want an undergraduate experience that allows you to study abroad, play varsity athletics, join fraternity and sorority life, or participate in any of the academic and residential campus opportunities available at Ohio Wesleyan. You will spend 2-4 years at OWU, then complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Mount Carmel College of Nursing (MCCN), one of central Ohio’s premier nursing schools.

MCCN guarantees admission for a minimum of 15 qualifying participants a year in each of these OWU programs.

Benefits of the Two Pathways

Second Degree Accelerated Program (SDAP). Complete a 4-year B.A. or B.S. degree at OWU in the major(s) of your choice. You can earn an OWU degree in less than four years by taking summer classes or earning college credits while in high school. After graduating from OWU, you enroll at Mount Carmel, where you can complete your BSN in either 13 or 18 months. MCCN's 13-month SDAP program begins in January, and the 18-month program begins in August.

  • Gain greater career flexibility with dual degrees, combining your BSN with an OWU degree in Spanish, psychology, sociology, exercise science, communication, business, and more. OWU offers more than 70 majors.
  • Take advantage of generous financial aid opportunities.
  • Benefit from OWU Connection opportunities to travel, conduct mentored research with professors, and get real experience with valuable internships.
  • Participate in NCAA Division III varsity athletics, theatre, music, and the full college experience.
  • Enjoy life on a beautiful, 200-acre campus, where two-thirds of all students are living in new housing, including new apartments.

Advanced Placement Program (APP). You complete two years at Ohio Wesleyan, taking a core set of classes along with several electives. You must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and earn a C or higher in each of the required classes. Then you spend two years (five semesters) at Mount Carmel, where you will graduate with your BSN degree. New APP class cycles begin every summer at Mount Carmel. (Note: This program is not related to Advanced Placement courses offered in high schools.)

  • Play two years of competitive D-III sports on any of OWU's 24 varsity teams.
  • Participate in theatre, music, and dozens of clubs and activities.
  • Enjoy life on a beautiful, 200-acre campus, where all first-year students and two-thirds of all students are living in new housing.
  • Complete a BSN in four years -- and possibly less.

International students: Please note that Mount Carmel College of Nursing does not issue Immigration Form I-20 from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Therefore, MCCN is not eligible to accept new or transfer international students who need I-20 credentialing. MCCN welcomes international applicants who do not require an I-20 clearance.
