About

Leslie MacColman is a Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2022-23 academic year. Leslie earned her Ph.D. in Sociology & Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame in 2020 and was a post-doctoral scholar in Sociology at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on violence, politics, and public bureaucracies in Latin America. In the past, she has examined public investments in high-crime neighborhoods of Honduras and social tolerance for punitive policing in Uruguay. Her current work examines the causes and consequences of contemporary police reform in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Prior to her Ph.D. studies, Leslie earned a B.A. in Anthropology & Spanish from the University of Montana - Missoula and an M.A. in International Relations from the Universidad del Salvador, in Argentina. She also spent several years working for non-profit organizations (NGOs) throughout Latin America.
