Is Summer Bridge Program only limited to students who received an invitation in their email?

The program is open to all incoming first-year students. Click here to apply. The application deadline is Monday, May 27, 2019 at 3 p.m. EDT.

Is admission for Bridge Program on a rolling basis?

No. No applications will be considered after the deadline. This year’s application deadline is Monday, May 27, 2019 at 3 p.m. EDT. In addition, applicants will not find out their status regarding acceptance to the program until after the deadline.

I am considering other pre-orientation programs. Can I miss some days of Bridge Program in order to take advantage of both opportunities?

No. In order to receive the full benefits of any program, it is absolutely necessary to attend from start to finish. The best option is simply to choose the pre-orientation program in which you want to be involved. The only exception is for Football training camp. We are partnering with University Athletics to ensure all their players can fully participate in Bridge Program and fully participate in Football training.

Should I bring everything I need for the entire school year to Summer Bridge Program?

All Bridge Program participants should keep in mind they will be required to move two times: once into the summer residence hall for Bridge Program, then again into their permanent residence hall for the fall.

We recommend only bringing absolute necessities for Bridge Program, such as clothing, personal items, and school supplies needed for the three weeks of the program. Families, friends and others who were planning to help the student move in could still bring all of the students’ other belongings on the campus-wide move-in day, Thursday, August 15, 2019. Especially for those students traveling from longer distances, this approach allows families to maintain the cost of one plane ticket or other mode of transportation, and not overload themselves or their student with luggage.

This approach might mean students needing to travel alone to campus for Bridge Program. The idea of a student traveling alone to college can be scary for some. Feel free to contact us with questions or to talk through how Bridge Program move-in might work best for your family.
