Summer Study Abroad

Studying abroad during the summer has many, many benefits—OWU encourages students to consider their options to study at a partner institution or program for credit during the summer.

Scholarships are available including the OWU Schott Summer Study Abroad Scholarship and the OWU West Summer Study Abroad Scholarship. Students receiving Pell Grants are eligible for Pell support also during the summer.

There are many pre-approved programs that offer an international experience at a very reasonable cost. You can be abroad for four to six weeks, get credit for two courses in a wide variety of subjects, including internships, and have a valuable cultural experience!

Since studying abroad during the summer is non-term (i.e., not part of the regular academic year), the application process is simple and quick.

Come to a Summer Study Abroad session or stop by and see an OWU Connection (“Merrick”) Mentor to learn more. You can look for summer programs using OWU's program search site online. (In "Simple Search" you can select "summer" in the drop-down menu along with other criteria, such as location). 

The program search site simply provides you with the list of our approved programs. Please complete this OWU Summer Study Away application prior to applying to your program. 

Before applying to your program please fill out the forms located in this Google Folder and email them to international@owu.edu OR drop them off at the IOCP office in Merrick Hall. 

Once you have completed the OWU application and forms, you may go directly to the provider website for a program application.
