Carly currently works as a PEPFAR Program Analyst with the U.S. Department of State’s Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Health Diplomacy. PEPFAR, or the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, is a federal initiative invested in the global HIV/AIDS response. In this role she provides a variety of support and analytical functions to 4 technical areas: Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), Adolescent Girls and Young Women, Viral Load and Early Infant Diagnosis, and Cervical Cancer. She also serves as the Supply Chain Liaison, working closely with leadership and interagency contacts to flag supply chain challenges. Additionally, Carly is the PEPFAR Program Manager for Rwanda, serving a diplomatic function working with the team in-country, partner governments, civil society, and other stakeholders to help raise the level of engagement and further advance complementary programming.

Carly graduated from George Washington University in 2020 with a Master of Public Health. During her graduate studies, she received a David L. Boren Fellowship through the National Security Education Program to complete a yearlong intensive Swahili language study and conduct research on the intersection of mobile health (mHealth) and community based disease surveillance to inform her thesis. During her fellowship, she also returned to MEWATA, assisting them in the development of an HPV vaccination and education campaign. Carly moved to the D.C. area from Cleveland, Ohio. During her free time, Carly enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family (and also a good Netflix binge!)

Carly is open to working with students majoring or interested in Black World Studies, International Studies, Politics & Government, and all other related fields. She is open to:

• Speaking with a student virtually or on the phone
• Mentoring a student
• Assisting OWU Alumni (recent Alumni, or Alumni in transition)
• Serving as a resume-reviewer for OWU students and/or Alumni

In 2016, Carly received her Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University where she double majored in International Studies and Black World Studies. During her time at Ohio Wesleyan she studied abroad with the OWU in Tanzania program where she interned with the Medical Women Association of Tanzania (MEWATA) at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, kickstarting her interest in Public Health. Wanting to continue her work with MEWATA, she received Theory-to-Practice and SIP grants from OWU to assist with the planning of a free-of-charge mass breast and cervical cancer screening for 10,000 women in the Iringa region of Tanzania. She was also a member of the Black World Studies Student Board, Delta Zeta, and OWU Women’s Rugby.
