Career Connection Mission Statement

To provide career development, planning, and job search assistance to students and alumni by offering resources to help connect theory and practice with meaningful career objectives and by building partnerships with faculty, staff, alumni, parents, employers, and graduate schools. Through individual counseling, creative programming and technological services, we help students to identify and enhance networks and skills necessary to achieve career goals and to become actively engaged in a global society.

Entrepreneurship Career Community

Megan earned a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University with an Economics Management major and Psychology minor and a Master's of Education in Higher Education from Pennsylvania State University with an Certificate of Institutional Research.

Megan is responsible for designing and implementing the OWU Career Connection which will be a wholistic four-year program preparing OWU students for life and professional success. She works closely with students, faculty and staff, alumni, community members, and corporate partners to create opportunities for personal and career development for OWU students.

Megan is also the Director of the Delaware Entrepreneurial Center at OWU and an advisor for Delta Gamma OWU Chapter and Hillel.

Pre-Health Career Community

Leigh oversees the Career Connection office, supervises staff, and provides strategic leadership in the OWU Career Connection program. She provides individualized career coaching to students and establishes rapport with staff, faculty, employers, and Alumni to expand job prospects and graduate/professional opportunities for OWU students.

Leigh has a B.A. in Psychology from Ohio State and an M.S./Ed.S. in Career Counseling from Florida State, where she was trained under the Cognitive Information Processing (CIP) theory. She is a Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC), a Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW), National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Strengths Coach, and an MBTI Certified Practitioner. Leigh served as President of the Ohio Career Development Association and has most recently worked as the Manager of Career Services in the College of Pharmacy at Ohio State.

Education & Communication Career Community

Mindy coaches students on internship success strategies, networks with employers to develop internship opportunities, and works with alumni to develop externship (career exploration) experiences. She helped create “The Bishop Launch Program," an intern development program designed to help students become confident, competent and competitive internship and job seekers.

Prior to joining OWU, Mindy worked for 10 years as a Career Strategist in the Career and Workforce Development Program at Jewish Family Services in Columbus, OH. Mindy holds a BA in Judaic Studies and Political Science from Emory University and an MS in Human Resources Management from the New School for Social Research in NYC, NY. Mindy is a Certified Professional Resume Writer and member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Jill Hayes

Jill provides administrative and event planning support to the OWU Connection.  She plans and executes campus-wide career fairs for Career Connection. She also oversees on-campus internship placements and aids students in gaining practical real-world work experience through these on-campus internship opportunities.

Jill earned a B.E.S. in Communication Disorders from St. Cloud State University in 2001.

Leigh provides strategic and creative support to Career Connection staff along with  programming organization and grant management. Leigh welcomes students and visitors at the front desk and is trained as a Peer Career Coach to provide OWU students with career guidance and resume/cover letter reviews. 

Leigh has a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan with a Pre-Medicine and Nutrition double major and minors in English and Chemistry. After graduating, Leigh joined the Career Connection team in 2022 for a one-year term as their first ever Post-Graduate Administrative Assistant. Following this term, she intends to pursue an M.D. 


Career Catalysts

Housed within each academic department, Career Catalysts:

  • Understand employment trends for their respective areas
  • Have established business connections in their respective areas
  • Understand students’ individual career goals & inform them on opportunities
  • Coordinate department-specific events and experiential learning opportunities for students (e.g., Lunch & Learn Events)
  • Partner with faculty to establish new student events and internship opportunities

As Assistant Director, Career Catalyst Program and Liaison for the Economics and Business Department, Carolyn is responsible for educating students about career resources and connecting them to great internship and job opportunities with the ultimate goal of preparing them for life after OWU!

Carolyn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Interpersonal and Public Communication from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Labor and Human Resources from The Ohio State University. She has a wealth of experience in multi-level corporate recruiting, student advising and internship program management.

Humanities & Fine Arts Career Community

As a Career Catalyst (Careers with Social Impact), Newton works with students to help connect them to socially charged careers that align with their personal mission. Utilizing the amazing tools in the Career Connection office, Newton creates and maintains connections with students and employers to help ensure quality experiences for students, both pre and post-graduation, as well as quality and qualified candidates for employers. 

Newton has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Cleveland State University.  Prior to returning to OWU, Newton worked as an Academic/College Advisor with I Know I Can and as the Development Associate for TECH CORPS.

Newton’s Office is located in Elliott 009.

Danielle Bailey, Ph.D.

STEM Career Community

Danielle supports students by leading STEM-specific programming, connecting them with employers and alumni, and helping them navigate the transition into STEM careers. Danielle also works with students on refining their job and graduate school applications and helps them find funding opportunities. 

Danielle earned her B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Samford University in 2011 and her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Materials Science from Vanderbilt University in 2019. During graduate school, Danielle was a National Science Foundation fellow and utilized nanocrystals to study the molecular mechanisms in mental illness. Prior to Vanderbilt, Danielle worked as a science teacher with Teach For America.

Interns

Allyson Amstutz ’24, Peer Career Coach

Allyson is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan, studying Special Education with a minor in Psychology. Outside of classes, she tends to keep herself busy and active with clubs such as CRU (an on-campus Christian organization), the Equestrian Team, Ski Club, and is looking to be more active in the Outdoor Ministry Team. She enjoys reading a good book (and a good pun), getting to know others, being outdoors in all aspects, doing arts and crafts, and drinking a fair share of strawberry lemonade. She is excited to serve others through this experience and is looking forward to all that she’ll learn about communication, planning events, attending to all of the corresponding details, and making valuable connections along the way.

Alena Arnold '23, STEM Intern

Alena is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan and started as the STEM Career Community Intern in the fall of 2020. She is majoring in Environmental Science and Biology declared in Zoology, with a minor in Sociology-Anthropology. Alena is interested in conservation and ecology, and hopes to work in the field in the future. In her position as the STEM Career Community Intern, she enjoys seeking and creatively promoting new opportunities for aspiring scientists. At OWU, she is a member of the Equestrian team, OWtsiders A Cappella, and has been involved in the Fall Break backpacking trips and karate classes.

Hannah Cox, Career Connection Intern

Hannah Cox is a Junior at Ohio Wesleyan, studying Environmental Science with a minor in Zoology. She is a Peer Career Coach and Career Ambassador in addition to being a Career Connection Intern. When she is not working with the OWU Career Community, she plays defense for the women’s lacrosse team and is involved in the Women in Science Club and the environmental science community. She is passionate about environmental and wildlife conservation and is excited for this career path after graduating.

Nathan Oke ’24, Peer Career Coach

Nathan is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University and joined the Career Connection team in Fall of 2021. He is majoring in pre-dentistry and minoring in accounting. He is a part of the Men's Tennis team, a mentor of the Economic Management Fellows program, and a re-founder of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He is excited to grow and learn throughout his time working alongside others in Career Connection. 

Amarilys (Lili) Torres-Nunez '25, Peer Career Coach

Lili is a sophomore at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is a first-gen student who is currently pursuing a B.A. in both Zoology and Anthropology as well as a minor in Spanish and Psychology. Her interests align with her studies which revolve around how culture influences our behavior, as well as animal significance/importance to different societies abroad.  In addition to this, she also enjoys sports, specifically wrestling.

Giorgi Bediashvili '25


Giorgi is a sophmore at Ohio Wesleyan University. He is majoring in Political Science, Government, and Economics. He is the Chair of Public Relations Committee for WCSA, a Marketing Committe member for the Campus Programming Board, a member of Horizons International, an Office Worker for the Public Safety Office, and a tutor for Math 105.  His goal is to work in international organizations and eventually step into politics!

Kara Cannon '24

Kara Cannon is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is majoring in Computer Science and Fine Arts. She is an RA, a member of the Marketing Club, OMSA, the Black Student Union, and a member of the Track and Field Team.  Her future goal is to go into UX/UI design.

Morgan Chmielenski '24

Morgan Chmielenski is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is majoring in Genetics and Psychology. She is actively involved on campus as a member of the Kappa Alpha Tenta, the PreHealth club, the Ski and Snowboard club, the mortar board, and a leader for Camp OWU.  Her goal is to become a genetic counselor!

Hannah Cox '24

Hannah Cox is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is majoring in Environmental Science. She is currently an Intern in the Career Connection office, a member of the Women in Science club, and a member of the women's lacrosse team.  Her future goal is to work in environmental conservation in a National Park!

Brooke Hall '23

Brooke Hall is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is majoring in Exercise Science. Her campus activities include being a Resident Assistant, Co-chair of the HHK student board, member of the Student Honors Board, member of Circle K, former service camp leader, member of the women's ultimate frisbee team, and a teaching assistant for Quantitative and Research Methods courses in the Psychology department.  She is interested in working in a sector of healthcare focused in the pediatric population!

Bulbul Lnu '23

Bulbul Lnu is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is majoring in Computer Science and Data Analytics. On campus, she is the President of Horizons International and the Vice President of OWUSAA.  Her future goal is to work in the field of Data Science and Machine Learning. 

Rachel Madore '24

Rachel Madore is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is majoring in Economics and Music. She is currently the Spanish Club treasurer, one of the Economics Management Fellows, the treasurer of Circle K, a member of Delta Gamma, NAfme, and enrolled in the Honors Program.  Her goal is to create environmentally sustainable economies.

Brittani Stiltner '23

Brittani Stiltner is a senior at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is majoring in International Studies, Spanish, and Economics. She is part of the Global Scholars Program, Economics Management Fellowship, Honors Program, Spanish Club (President), VIVA! (Treasurer), Marching Bishops, Basketball Band, Model UN, Best Buddies (Treasurer) and College Democrats (Treasurer).  She is currently applying to law school with intent to specialize in International Law.

Karli Walsh '24

Karli Walsh is a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University.  She is currently majoring in Politics and Government and Philosophy.  She is a Resident Assistant, secretary of WCSA, Secretary of Citizens' Climate Lobby, an officer for the Young Democratic Socialists of America, treasure of the Food Recovery Network, a member of Circle K, and members of both the Politics and Government and Philosophy and Religion Student Boards.  Her goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Philosophy and become a professor.
